Verdi's 'Otello' at Opernhaus Zürich canceled due to COVID-19

Guanqun Yu’s upcoming performances of Verdi’s Otello at Opernhaus Zürich have been canceled because of coronavirus concerns. Ms. Yu was set to return to the house this month as Desdemona, after causing a sensation in Zürich as Liù in Puccini’s Turandot in 2018. Italian conductor Daniele Rustoni, who is an experienced authority in this repertoire, was scheduled to conduct the Philharmonia Zurich.

“By order of the Federal Council, all performances and events at the Opernhaus Zürich between 14 March and 30 April 2020 are canceled. Unfortunately, replacement performances cannot be offered for scheduling reasons. This cancellation hits us hard. Given current conditions, we will naturally offer you a refund for the tickets you have already purchased.
